Floor Care

Protect Your Solid Investment

Among all kinds of floors, solid hardwood floors are one of the easiest to keep clean. Use simple everyday cleaning techniques to maintain your timber floor would be fine.

Precausions

 * FURNITURE :

Avoid dragging furnitures across the floor. Lift it off the floor to move. Attach felt furniture mats under the legs will help prevent scratches and marks when you handle your furnitures .

 * HARD CLEANERS :

Oil soap can build up and become problems when it's time to put a maintenance coat on the floor. Instead, we would recommend using pH neutral cleaners made specifically for wood floors to do your cleaning.

 * DIRT and GRIT :

Dirt and grit trapped under your shoes could be brought into the house and scratch the floor as you walk on it. Put doormats at the entrance to remove dirt and grit from your shoes.

 * DENTS :

Sharp-pointed objects such as nails and high-heels could cause scratches, dents and dulling to your hardwood floor. Take off your shoes before entering your place.

 * WATER, CHEMICALS AND OTHER SPILLS :

These liquids can damage the finish on the floor. Simply wipe up all spills at once. Do not let it soak in.

 * SUNLIGHT :

Direct sunlight can cause damage to the colour of your hardwood floor. Close curtains and blinds or add sheer drapes to prevent intense UV rays do harm to your floor.

Regular Care

 * VACUUM :

Vacuum with a brush attachment instead of beater bars. Canister vacuum cleaners with special bare floor attachments are the most effective and hardwood-friendly way to get rid of all dirt and dust.

 * SWEEP :

Brooms with fine, fluffy ends can trap dust and grit effectively.

 * DUST MOP :

Use a good dust mop --- one with a 12 to18 inch cotton head ---- and add special dust mop treatment to maximise the effect. Spray the treatment onto the mop head 12 to 24 hours before mopping.
